Jenseits der Mauern seines Geburtsortes Marbach am Neckar ist sein Name nur Eingeweihten bekannt. Dabei leistete der Kartograf, Astronom und Mathematiker aus dem 18. Jahrhundert au\u00dferordentliche Beitr\u00e4ge zur&nbsp;Vermessung der Welt. Am 17. Februar 2023 j\u00e4hrt sich Mayers Geburtstag zum 300. Mal \u2013 Anlass genug f\u00fcr die Stadt Marbach am Neckar und den dort ans\u00e4ssigen Tobias-Mayer-Verein, dem Naturwissenschaftler und Forscher mit einem umfangreichen Programm zu gedenken. Dies tun die VeranstalterInnen in vielf\u00e4ltiger Weise, unter anderem durch eine Sonderausstellung im Tobias-Mayer-Museum (18. Februar bis 30. Februar 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Auf Einladung des Tobias-Mayer-Vereins und der Stadt Marbach am Neckar hielt am Freitag, 17. Februar, 20 Uhr, Nico Sneeuw, Professor f\u00fcr Erdvermessung an der Universit\u00e4t Stuttgart, den Festvortrag in der Stadthalle. <br>Ein Gru\u00dfwort vom Astronauten Ernst Messerschmidt sowie die \u00dcberagabe der &#8222;B\u00fcste von Tobias Mayer&#8220; an den Verein vom K\u00fcnstler Thomas Duttenhoefer bereicherten das Programm.<br> <br>Die Sonderausstellung \u201eDie privaten Briefe der Familie Mayer\u201c wurde am Samstag, 18. Februar um 16:00 Uhr im Tobias-Mayer-Museum er\u00f6ffnet. Um 20 Uhr fand ein Science Slam in der Stadthalle Marbach statt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Der Sonntag, 19. Februar, begann mit einem Festgottesdienst und endete mit Sonderf\u00fchrungen im Museum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Das bunte und (1723 -1762) ist das Thema des neuen Buchs des Kulturwissenschaftlers Thomas Knubben: Er hat der Geschichte des \u201aWunderkindes\u2018 und Waisenknaben nachgesp\u00fcrt, der als Kartograph, Mathematiker, Physiker und Astronom zum Pionier der Aufkl\u00e4rung wurde. Jahrhundert der Briefverkehr die Kommunikation \u00fcber gr\u00f6\u00dfere Distanzen. Man schrieb einen Brief und wartete auf Antwort, oft l\u00e4ngere Zeit. Die Briefe wurden von Hand geschrieben \u2013 was sie heute zum Teil schwer lesbar macht \u2013 und mit der Post per Kutsche oder Kurier verschickt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Die Ausstellung \u201eDie privaten Briefe der Familie Mayer\u201c im Tobias Mayer Museum widmet sich solchen Briefen.
